Pretty Damned Social

Back for a second year, Pretty Damned Social is a social gathering of female/trans/femme/nonbinary cyclists and cycling programs in and around NYC!

From racing to commuting to social riding, there are groups all over the city engaging an often underserved community of cyclists and we're bringing them all together to talk programs and include YOU in the action.

Whether cycling is a deep bedded passion or a new found hobby, it can be difficult to find a group and community that matches your style, goals, and personality. Pretty Damned Social is meant to make that exposure process easy and painless - no pressure or judgement, this is simply a gathering of minds and folks who love bikes!

So come out and meet some wonderful people who make cycling in New York more and more welcoming!

RSVP HERE or follow the event on Facebook.

This event is part of our #TrekWomen series of rides and programs.

FTW Noguchi Ride

We will be welcoming the start of spring with a ride to Astoria to tour the museum dedicated to Japanese-American sculpture artist and activist, Isamu Noguchi.

We will meet at Sun and Air at 10:30am, wheels down at 10:50am. The museum opens at 11am. Please bring money - general admission is $10 or $5 with a student ID.

This is a social ride, helmets are required, FTW/GNC-NB identifying folks only. No drop.

After the museum, we will ride into lower Manhattan to visit the Sunken Garden, a sub-terranian water garden with Japanese stones Noguchi designed in the early 60s.

Below is info on the artist and a link to the Admissions page on the website.

Hope you can join us!

Isamu Noguchi was one of the twentieth century’s most important and critically acclaimed sculptors. Through a lifetime of artistic experimentation, he created sculptures, gardens, furniture and lighting designs, ceramics, architecture, and set designs. His work, at once subtle and bold, traditional and modern, set a new standard for the reintegration of the arts.

Womens/TF/GNC Ai Weiwei Sculpture Ride

Join us for another one of our social city rides where we will visit Ai Weiweis latest public-art works around Manhattan, "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors”, his largest public-art project to date!

The works are displayed on top of buildings, around bus shelters and at newsstand kiosks, as well as in Washington Square Park and Central Park.

The exhibit stands as a platform to address the refugee crisis, is a response to the political and social impulse to divide people from each other, and ultimately serves as a love letter to immigrants who have made NYC their home and to residents who have welcomed them.

“In the city, you never feel that you’re a foreigner,” Ai says. “This is for the people of New York.”

We will meet at Sun and Air Saturday at 10am and roll out at 10:30am sharp.

Helmets are required.

This is part of our WTF/GNC ride program.
